Who. Could. Ask. For more?

[eyes without a face]

The above photo collage was taken this afternoon. The top pair of eyes is our oldest son at 17 months old and the bottom pair is our youngest son at 5 weeks old. It can also be seen at our Flickr account. (Previous baby-eye photos can be seen here and here.)

The USPS loves us right now. Between baby announcements and thank-you notes, I think we're single-handedly carrying on the U.S. stamp trade ourselves. Oy.

I've decided I'll never win parent of the year. When Todd asked me the words to a lullaby he was trying to sing yesterday, I had to confess that my lullabies usually consist of songs like "(At the) Copacabana". For some reason, that's all my brain can ever remember in a pinch so that's what I sing to the boys. And I'm not even a Fanilow...

And can I just say for the gazillionth time that I really hate how Hollywood moms make the rest of us look bad. I saw an 'entertainment TV' interview with Denise Richards this evening. She gave birth on June 1st of this year (15 days before I did). She also gave birth in early March of last year (a month after I did). The interview bragged that she was back down to her pre-pregnancy weight again this time after two weeks. Two. Weeks. Let us not also forget the (so not work-safe) spread she did last summer, three months after giving birth. I'm doing great to be in some of my non-maternity clothes at five weeks postpartum, and I still have almost 15-20 lbs. to go! Sorry Denise, but not all of us have nannies to pencil in those two hours of daily cardio you're bragging about — much less the fundage to have Zone meals delivered to our door three times a day.

Bite me.

And lastly, wisdom gleaned from the Channel 8 storm team since moving to Florida...

1. If you don't think you can escape your trailer in time during a tornado, just cover up with pillows.
2. Always drive slow through high water.
3. Remember the 30/30 rule during a thunderstorm and listen for the lightning.

Repeat announcement:
To close, just a quick PSA and apology. It's only taken me two days to get this entry together...and you should see my inbox right now (currently with 198 218 messages)... By all means, fire away with the e-mails as I love reading them and getting the 'adult conversation' when time permits. Just please allow for turn-around time. Lots and lots of turn-around time. I have good intentions on writing back I swear (and I'm sorry if you're still waiting to hear back from me), but unless you are the owner of one of these sets of cute little baby toes (or are the male owner of this fine derrière), unfortunately you don't get first-come, first-serve priority for the next few weeks. Please continue to hold...
