Baby's got blue eyes

[flashin those baby blues]

Today is another huge milestone for our baby boy. He turns nine months old! And last Tuesday, he turned 38 weeks old. That was somewhat traumatic for me, because I delivered him at 38 weeks into my pregnancy. He's now been here with us for longer than I carried him. It seems these days there's just no stopping or slowing down time, no matter how much we try!

He just started truly crawling, and not just "army-crawling", last week. (Whoo boy!) He can stand up for long periods of time with little support. He now has SIX, SIX wonderful toofers. Ah, ah, ah! And now he one-hands his bottle and sippy to drink it all by himself, thankyouverymuch.

But I think my favorite new milestone of all is that he not only reaches out to be held or picked up (which he's done for quite sometime now) — he reaches out to give hugs. There is simply no better sense that you're doing something right with your life (and his), than when your son throws his arms around your neck as if to say "I love you, too."

I can't believe how fast the holidays are approaching! He went trick-or-treating for the first time over the weekend and his Christmas presents are already starting to pile up just waiting... This month will be his very first Thanksgiving. Didn't we just bring him home from the hospital and celebrate his first Valentine's? *sniff*

I've read a quote before that went along the lines of 'choosing to become a mother is the decision to forever wear your heart on the outside of your body'. Truer words have never been spoken.

Just a couple of observations on the election... 1) Florida didn't screw it up this time, so there!   -and-   2) I found it quite interesting that in an election where the aftermath of 9/11 was such a focus, none of the States/Districts directly involved (NY, NJ, D.C., PA, and MA) went to the incumbent who was in Office during the attacks, and led the nation in the days/weeks/years to follow. And to quote Mr. Gump, "That is all I have to say about that..." At least we'll have four more years of entertaining Daily Show broadcasts!
