Have a heart

[I knew I loved you before I met you]

The above photo was taken at a recent maternity session. It was amazingly fun - the parents-to-be are just an incredible couple! The baby is scheduled to be delivered on August 8th, so stay tuned for follow-up newborn photos soon...

I knew when I recently resigned as coordinator of the annual Blogger Boobie-Thon, I would need something to fill the void (but not be quite as time-and-life consuming with two toddlers under-foot).

Without hesitation, I contacted the Orlando Heart Gallery to see if they had a need for volunteers - and I'm now on the 2007 Publicity Committee. I even asked local photographer KarenLeslie to join along with me. Her former marketing background will be an incredible asset!

Adoption is a cause very near and dear to my "heart" - because when we were told that we could not have children, that was the avenue we chose to pursue. We still discuss adoption on down the road when our boys are older.

I also wanted to get involved in our new community from the very start.

If you're not familiar with the Heart Gallery concept, here are a few media articles to bring you up to speed:

1. "Their Faces Spoke To The Heart"
2. "Person of the Week: Heart Galleries"
3. "Having a Heart"
4. "Photos designed to speak to the heart"

I encourage everyone to check into the Heart Gallery in your own areas and get involved!

And to those specifically in the Orlando and Tampa areas — The Orlando Heart Gallery (currently on display at the Orange County Regional History Center) is searching for donations for the upcoming children's party in October and silent auction / gala in November. If you have anything you would like to donate for either event, please drop me a line and I will put you in contact with the appropriate person.

Approximately 120 items total are needed to fill each child's gift basket if you wish to donate to the children's party.

Some items already donated for the silent auction include restaurant meal packages, spa packages, signed sports memorabilia, hotel get-away packages, sporting event tickets, gift certificates, etc. — if you can provide anything similar we'd love to hear from you!

We also welcome any and all media publicity so if you can provide this, again just let me know, and I'll put you in touch with the publicity coordinator immediately.

Thanks in advance if you can help in any way!
-Robyn
