Sometimes I have to move around - be loud, loud, loud

[Yo Gabba Gabba]

The above photo was taken yesterday at the "Nick Hotel" in Orlando, FL. It's of our oldest son watching his hero DJ Lance while dancey-dancing at a special YO GABBA GABBA! show for the resort's Nick Jr. Month. It was billed as the first-ever live appearance for YGG at the Nick Hotel.

We took a mini-summer vacation this week here in-town at the Nick Hotel. You might remember we went last year at the same time when Blue and Joe were in Mouseville™.

My oldest has become completely and totally obsessed with "Yo Gabba Gabba!" since its August-premiere. It could not have been better timing for him. He was old enough to really grasp what was going on this time during the show and when meeting DJ Lance and Brobee, and I don't think his feet have hit the ground yet.

It seems a lot of parents in my Flickr comments (public and private) either don't "get" or can't stand YGG. Those feelings are just foreign to me, as my husband and I both love it. It's like The Great Space Coaster and Sid and Marty Krofft rolled into one, with some old-skool Sesame Street and Electric Company for added spice.

Our boys are now 3½ and 2 years old, and I've never allowed a single episode of Barney, The Wiggles, or Teletubbies on our television set. But I can go through the entire YGG library on TiVo right now and end up singing the songs and doing the dances with both of them before all is said and done. It's truly been my salvation between trying to unpack a house and catch up on 3-weeks of work post-move.

This week was like a big reward for all of us - to just kick back and enjoy time together - with something they both love so much.

If you're looking for some fun YGG sites, try the following:

1. http://www.jinjur.com (they do character designs and storyboards for the show)
2. "Nerds with Kids" jinjur.com interview (they also worked on Super Martian Robot Girl)
3. Yo Blogga Blogga!
4. "welcome to the world of YO GABBA GABBA"

Discussion with my husband today on the joys of raising a 3-year old, post-vacation:
"It's either highest-high or lowest-low. Rarely an in-between. It's like living with a little meth-addict."

Nice and easy. Nice and slow.
