The very first blog design I ever did was for nobrarequired.com. It was an unlikely pairing a diehard Sooner fan designing a site for a diehard Longhorn fan. But Dori and her husband JE quickly became people I had total awe and admiration for. Not only as spouses and parents, but for their tireless fight against cancer.
People often wonder why I do the Blogger -Thon each year. Well I have a personal stake in finding a cure (even though I've never mentioned this publicly before), as my own children carry the gene that took their great-grandmother with the disease long before their father was ever born.
And now, we've lost another brave warrior to it... Dori will be missed more than words can possibly express, and next year my heart will be incredibly heavy when we request donations made in Dori's name to be "in memoriam" rather than "in honorarium".
God saw you getting tired
when a cure was not to be
So he wrapped his arms around you
and whispered, "Come to Me."
With tearful eyes they watched you
and saw you pass away
Although they loved you dearly
they could not make you stay
A golden heart stopped beating
and hands were put to rest
God broke hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best
