[please donate to the Hurricane Katrina victims]

The above photo was taken on August 12, 1995, on the patio at Pat O'Brien's in the French Quarter of New Orleans (back when Robyn lived in Mobile). Robyn's friend Robbie is on the left, and her friend Barry is on the right. The image was snapped just nine weeks before Todd proposed. Barry attended the wedding and reception at Margaritaville, and Robbie was a groomsman.

I ran across news tonight that gave me that special feeling in the cockles my heart. Or maybe below the cockles. Maybe in the sub-cockle area. Maybe in the liver. Maybe in the kidneys. Maybe even in the colon...

It appears that the hotel we got married at actually survived Hurricane Katrina and the flooding in New Orleans [link]. Don't get me wrong — I'm completely devastated by the loss of life suffered all across the Gulf coast in the past week-plus. But I was also grieving the potential loss of our personal history. I'm human. Even though technically we took both boys to the hotel last December (I was just barely in the second trimester with our youngest), it was — and is — a very special place I want them both to grow up knowing about. And not just in faded old photos and web accounts. God willing, now they'll still have that opportunity one day!

Amanda passed along a really cool link yesterday. It's Flickr auctions for hurricane Katrina relief.

And speaking of the two, never has a photograph spoken more volumes of just how much Katrina changed things along the Gulf coast forever...

Please donate if you haven't already!

UPDATE: So what does it say about you if you're not only on the "C-List", but your name is also spelled wrong?
