Say 'click' - take a pic

[he loves me]

The above photo was taken by Mr. Shutterblog earlier today. He grabbed the boys and my D70, and off they went into the yard to explore... It was great to see him with a camera again. I really missed it. Although I may have to actually hire him and work out some sort of salary in trade if he keeps that up.

Many of you may or may not know that Dooce's daughter was born on the same exact day of the same exact year as my oldest son. Given that I was in Tampa sort of still having a Tantrum back then, once upon a time certain members of the blogosphere might have thought it to be carefully orchestrated. When you adjust timezones, carry the two, and divide by π — they made their debut on this big blue marble almost to the very millisecond — east coast barely having beat out landlocked.

However, once I got pregnant with our second son and spent months 7-16 of my oldest's life with my head down the toilet, phrases like "Happy 14-month birthday" soon became a thing of the past. It was more like "Phew, you were still alive when your father got home. It was a good day today!" Day. Singular. Baby steps.

That said, I still love reading the monthly milestone letters on Dooce's site, even if it does make me feel like a slacker. It's just so bittersweet watching another toddler grow up as quickly as my own right before my monitor each month. It's hard to see my own child as a "baby" when she looks so grown up.

But apparently my son turned 47-months old last week and I forgot to note the occasion. Is that anniversary paper, metal, or Tinker Toy? I always forget.

Your bonus link, as I must now get horizontal and do my best to forget I have the stomach flu (and no, I am not pregnant - thanks for asking - and yes, I'm sure):
