The above photo was from a 6-month portrait mini-session I did earlier in the month. I also shot her newborn session last August.

So our youngest son (now 21-months old) is going through that self-discovery phase where he constantly experiments with the pitch and sound of his voice. You know the one...where they scream bloody murder at ear-piercing, glass-shattering decibles for no reason whatsoever and will. not. stop. no matter how much you beg or threaten...

Well, I don't know from who - from where - or from which direction it came from, but earlier this afternoon while he was in mid-schpiel, a male voice boomed into our apartment out of nowhere shouting back, "SHUT THE UP!"

I'm so proud.

(I believe these are my karma-paybacks for the 3 years we spent under a corporate apartment in St. Petersburg. The couple above us had 3-year old twins and they stomped around at all hours of the day. They had just moved to town and were in the apartment above ours until the house they were building was completed - and just like my boys, their children had never lived in an apartment before. Their toddlers jumped up and down so hard that they literally cracked the walls in every room from our ceiling down to our door frames. And they'd shake the rooms so much while playing around that I literally had to vacuum every other day because it looked like it had snowed in our apartment from the popcorns on the ceiling that rained down on our heads. I seriously could not keep that place dusted while they lived there!)
