Happy Mother's Day! Today I'm celebrating my third. I remember a time not so long ago when I refused to even acknowledge this day's existance... But today I woke up to hugs from my boys, cards, iced cinnamon bread, and shouts of "Happy Mother's Day". Me. A mom. All this happy-attention is a far cry from the kinds of things I used to face on the second Sunday in May. And I have to admit, it's all still a bit surreal, even though my oldest son has just turned two. Some days I still look at them both with this shock of "they're mine - really mine - and I get to keep them". And then of course right about that time I also do a quick sniff, realize double-diaper duty will soon be a part of my not-so-distant future yet again, and the reality-wave tells me quite loudly "yep, they are in fact mine!"

We're honestly not doing anything all that special today, by my own request. My first Mother's Day we took my mother-in-law to Outback, and my oldest was only 3 months old. He was extremely fussy that day and I had to walk the floors of their catering room just to keep him happy and content. What little bit of my meal that I got to eat, I got to eat cold. Last year I was hugely, miserably pregnant and my oldest was teething. I one-hand ate my meal out and held him in the other arm as I did so. So this year, we're getting takeout. I've asked for some peace and quiet time to work on several projects I never seem to have the time to work on. And we'll all hop in the pool and play for a bit after lunch. But beyond that, nothing much else but good food and good company. And I wouldn't have it any other way!

You know that phrase "something's gotta give"? Unfortunately right now that seems to be this site. On April 30th, I had my very first "non-friends" photo session. One of my husband's coworkers recently had their first child, a baby boy, and asked me to do the newborn photographs and announcements. You can see the ones I've posted thus far here. I'm extremely pleased with how well things turned out, and have already been asked back to do the 3-month portrait session in July and the double-Christening of that baby and his cousin in August.

Quite a few people have asked me point-blank if I'm "going pro" after the session, so I've updated my about page with the answer...for now... I'm afraid "yes, no, and maybe" is about as specific as I can get for the time being. At least until my boys are a bit older.

If you miss me too much over here, don't forget to check Flickr. I do my best to update there at least every other day, if not daily...

Happy Mother's Day everyone!
