Last time, la luna

I took the above photo of the moon on Monday, October 17th (click here for larger version). It was my second attempt at taking photos of the moon — I had also tried the night before for the very first time. I'm extremely pleased with both results, especially considering each attempt was "freehand" and sans-tripod. If you're interested in trying it out for yourself, I found a really great moon exposure calculator today on Flickr. It even tells you the current moon-phase!

Once upon a time, a 'really wild Thursday night' consisted of a few Amaretto sours with friends at O'Connell's as a warm-up session for the Friday and Saturday ahead. These days it consists of going to CVS without the wee ones, and 5-10 minutes of non-kiddie music each way during the drive.

I walked up to the counter with my 15 items or less, half baby-related, wearing this shirt (thanks to SJ). The pimply-faced checker seemed completely uninterested in answering my questions and was slightly annoyed at the stack of coupons I presented him with at the end of all the scanning. You see, I was interrupting his serious conversation with the teen girl next to him about a pop-quiz he'd been unprepared for that afternoon. The nerve. But all of a sudden they both zeroed in on the logo. He looked up at me shocked and said, "Oh my god - is that a WEEZER shirt?!?" I spun around to confirm his suspicions, and they both exclaimed (in unison), "COOL!" Suddenly I was, like, popular and stuff and they were all too eager to engage me in their conversation. Old, tired moms can be sweeeeeeeet, too, it seems. I didn't have the heart to tell them I'd been listening to the Blue Album since they were in Pampers.

Speaking of =w=eezer shirts, I just ordered one today for our youngest with a CafePress credit I had. It seemed only fair considering his older brother had one, too. Between those, baby baby Chucks and toddler Docs — I keep doing my best to prove that, "I'm hip. I'm with it."

Now, where's my Geritol?

P.S. We still have hotel reservations further north and inland for Wilma just in case, but don't expect to need them at this point. *crossing fingers* Thanks to everyone who's written concerned thus far!
